The guest speaker at our 4th February 2012 meeting will be the ex Nottinghamshire CCC opening batsman Paul Todd.
I have just been informed of the date of Jack’s funeral. It is to be held on Monday 30th January 2012 at 11.00am at Blidworth Church and then at Mansfield Crematurium at 11.45 am. Refreshments will be available afterwards at Blidworth Welfare.
Guest speakers at the January meeting were Chris Grant, Chairman Derbyshire County Cricket Club, and Tom Poynton, DCCC 1st X1 Wicketkeeper.
Chris outlined his plans and desires for Derbyshire and his passion for the club and cricket in general. Tom summarized his career to date and the pathways available to youngsters at Derbyshire.
Both speakers were very well received by the members.

2010 League AGM results of rule changes
Several additional sponsors have been found for the league and an announcement will be made soon when all arrangements have been finalized.
Anthony Collis & Geoff Wellsteed will make a presentation entitled INNS & OUTS about cricket-related pubs signs. I am reliably informed (Niven Roper) that it is an entertaining afternoon. He has seen it before at the Sheffield Cricket Lovers Society in 2010, it is full of cricket anecdotes, not “boozing”.
Anthony & Geoff have also written a book also entitle INNS & OUTS, which I am sure will be available on the day.
The guest speaker at the 5th November meeting, Tony Borrington, was a tremendous success. Tony entertained the assemble members for almost 2 hours with stories from his time playing for Derbyshire in the 70’s and 80’s. He said that he may not have been the greatest player in world but that he had played with and against the greatest in the world. He had fond memories of his time in the Bassetlaw with Creswell and Chesterfield. Particularly with George Wood and Harry Fidler at Creswell. He felt that at that time Section 1A of Bassetlaw cricket was better than County 2nd X1 cricket.

Tony Borrington, Derbyshire CCC, will be the Associations guest speaker on Saturday 5th November 2011 at Cuckney Cricket Club, 2.30pm.
Tony is well known in the Bassetlaw League having played for both Creswell Colliery and Chesterfield in the 1970’s whilst also playing for Derbyshire. He is at present a member of the Derbyshire Cricket Committee.

The President presented the Joe Richardson Memorial Trophy to Brian Cartwright; Brian has been umpiring consistently for 49 years in the Mansfield & District Cricket League and for the last 33 years also in the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League. Brian has also been a committee member for 25 years. A well earned and justified award.
A presentation was then made by the President to Arthur Whitehead (Blidworth Colliery Welfare CC) of a 20 year service tie, Arthur had in fact completed 23 years service to the Umpires Association. The Association is always proud to make these awards in recognition of 20 years dedication to local Cricket.

OVER’S PER BOWLER – Number of Over’s to be bowled by individual bowler when Over’s are carried forward from 1st Innings to 2nd Innings.
ONLY WHEN A TEAM DECLARES it’s first innings does the number of overs per bowler increase in the second innings, when that team bowls. Refer to table in handbook for increase. It does not increase if the team batting first is bowled out with over’s to be carried forward; it remains at 15 (50 + c/fwd overs) or 13 (46 + c/fwd overs).
None of this affects the number of over’s a young fast bowler may bowl, they remain governed by the limits of the ECB Directive.
