ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

SATURDAY 6th October 2012

Brief note about the Association

The Association was formed in 1948 to provide neutral umpires to the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League. This has expanded to include the providing of training of umpires and scorers to the Bassetlaw & District Cricket League. The training function is now done in partnership with the Nottinghamshire Branch of the ACO to which we have close ties.

We are linked to the Bassetlaw and District Cricket League and affiliated to the ECBACO and Notts Cricket Board.

Some of our members also work in other leagues such as the Nottinghamshire Premier League, the Derbyshire Premier League, the Mansfield & District Cricket League (Sunday) and the South Yorkshire Cricket League.

The Association is managed by a committee of 14, including a President, Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer and Appointments Secretary plus 10 committee members, all  elected annually at the Annual General Meeting which is held on the first Saturday in October each year.

Membership fees are £14 discounted to £7 if paid by November each year. There is a membership of approximately 120 but unfortunately only about 80 of those are active in the League. On any given Saturday we are 20 to 30 umpires short to operate two umpires at each of approximately 60 games. It is an unfortunate fact that there are insufficient umpires nationwide not just in our league.

Umpiring is a very rewarding pastime for anyone interested in Cricket. If you are an ex-player and want to remain involved in the game then umpiring is something we can recommend. Get involved, local cricket needs you.
