DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE

Last season saw the introduction of the Accumulated Offence, which certainly had a beneficial effect on behaviour, and its report form alongside the existing Disciplinary Report Form. So there were two forms by which to report disciplinary offences dependent upon the perceived level of seriousness.

The League Disciplinary Committee found that there was a degree of crossover in the usage of the forms where Accumulated Offences were reported on full disciplinary report forms and a full disciplinary offence on Accumulated Offence forms. So a decision was made to merge the two forms and issue a new combined form (this can also be found in the Downloads section of the website and will be sent to you with your match fixtures).

The League Disciplinary Committee will on receipt of a disciplinary report and after taking into account the details of that disciplinary report, will decide on the level of punishment to be made and convene any disciplinary hearings as they deem necessary.

Below is the new disciplinary procedure as decided upon by the League Management Committee;

DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS – POLICY DOCUMENT

The purpose of this policy document is to provide a template for consistency of decision making, to enable fairness and transparency to prevail for everyone involved.

Where it is felt appropriate to hold a Disciplinary Hearing, the members constituting the panel for such a hearing will be made up of the Disciplinary Committee Chairman and two other appointed members of the LMC. The Bassetlaw & District Umpires Association will be invited to appoint someone from their organization to make up the fourth member.

If the hearing finds a matter proven against an alleged offender, the Committee will consider the full range of penalties, as outlined in Rule 7.4 DISCIPLINE / 4 Penalties.

Where a suspension from playing is considered appropriate against a player for a number of weeks, that players team shall also be deducted a number of points, three times the amount of the number of week’s suspension. (E.g. 3 week suspension = 9 points deduction). Any reduction in the principal of three times the weekly suspension in relation to points shall be an indication of mitigation in terms of the circumstances surrounding the offence alleged.

Suspended sentences imposed as a penalty, shall be in addition to and not instead of suspension from playing.

Where it is felt appropriate to reduce points from a team at a Disciplinary Hearing held after or towards the end of any given season, those points will always be deducted from the tables of the current season in which the relevant game was played and WILL NOT be ‘deferred’ or ‘rolled over’ until the following season.

The outcome of all Disciplinary Hearings shall be forwarded to the League Secretary within 7 days of the hearing, to allow the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board to be updated promptly.
